No. 4 West Texas A&M Blow Out Cameron, 103-50

LAWTON, Okla. – After narrowly escaping with a victory last night, No. 4 West Texas A&M blew out Cameron, 103-50, on Saturday afternoon in Lawton, Okla. With the victory, WT improves to 11-1 on the season and 9-1 in Lone Star Conference play. 

The 53-point victory was there largest against a Division II opponent since a 56-pont victory over Western Colorado last season. All 11 Buffs scored led by 17 from Joel Murray as the junior went 6-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Hayden Blankley and Cameron Bell had career nights as they combined for 28 off the bench. 

WT jumped out a 7-0 lead in the opening two minutes with five of them coming from Jon'il Fugett. Following four straight points from the Aggies, J. Fugett hit his second 3-pointer of the game to spark a 9-0 run. Blankley and Murray both connect from downtown during the run.

The score was 18-8 at the 13:35 mark before the Buffs went on a 12-2 run to push the lead to 20, 30-10. Zach Toussaint hit his only 3-pointer of the game during the run while Qua Grant also connected from beyond the arc. The lead would stretch to as much as 30 with under three minutes until halftime, 46-16, following a pair of free throws from Cameron Bell. The redshirt freshman would make the Buffs ninth 3-pointer at the buzzer to give WT a 55-21 halftime lead. 

The Buffs continued to roll in the second half as a 7-0 run in the opening five minutes pushed the lead to 37, 64-27. Bell hit a layup followed by a three from Blankley. Grant finished the run with an offensive put back. Murray's signature jumper pushed the lead to 40, 69-29, at 13:33. 

The reserves continued to shine later in the half with John Brown scoring four straight points followed by a dunk from Toran Harris to make it 84-37 right before the under 8-miniute media timeout. The lead would reach 50 points in the final minute on free throws from Calvin Fugett Jr. 

The Buffs finish the regular season next week with a home-and-home with No. 9 Lubbock
