PORTALES, N.M. – The No. 5 West Texas A&M Buffs jumped to 9-1 this season with a 81-63 victory over Eastern New Mexico on Thursday night.  The win pushes WT's win streak out to eight over ENMU while the Greyhounds move to 3-4 overall. Â

Two players reached 20 points on Thursday night with
Zach Toussaint and
Hayden Blankley.  Toussaint went 6-for-12 from the floor, 2-for-6 from the deep and 8-for-8 at the free throw line for a team-high 22 points.  Blankley shot 7-for-10 from the field including a career-high seven 3-pointers to go along with five rebounds and one steal.Â

Eastern New Mexico led off scoring in the opening minute before Blankley registered his first 3-pointer of the night to ignite a 12-2 run for the Buffs to lead 15-4.  Cornell Greenwood ended the run with layup before the Greyhounds collected their own run to bring the score within three.Â

At the 4:04 mark,
Larry Wise knocked down both free throws after drawing the foul to push WT's lead out to 13, 33-20. Eastern would follow up with a shot in the paint after bringing down the defensive rebound to make it a seven point game at the intermission.Â

Blankley hit a shot from the deep to make it 41-31 until the Greyhounds posted a 6-2 run to cut the Buffs lead to six.  WT found its momentum at 15:57 as the Buffs immediately responded with a 12-0 run lead 55-37. Â

With less the two minutes left on the clock,
Kavon Booker would put the final points on the board for the Buffs with the sophomores third shot of the game.  Thursday's win moves head coach
Tom Brown to 13-1 against ENMU.Â

The Buffs shot 39.7 percent (23-for-58) from the field and 35.7 percent (10-for-28) from the deep while shooting 78.1 percent (25-for-32) from the charity stripe.  WT scored 22 points off of turnovers along with 16 points from the bench.Â

WT returns to Canyon on Saturday afternoon for a matchup with Western New Mexico following the third annual alumni game in Canyon.  Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.Â
