No. 3 West Texas A&M Extend Home Win Streak 40 Games with 98-82 Victory over Dallas Baptist

CANYON, Texas – Five players scored in double figures including a career-high 18 from Jordan Collins as No. 3 West Texas A&M extended the nation's longest home win streak to 40 games with a 98-82 victory over Dallas Baptist on Saturday afternoon at the First United Bank Center. The Buffs made 19 3-pointers as they improved to 25-1 overall and 17-1 in Lone Star Conference play.

The Buffs jumped out to an early 5-0 led thanks to a put back layup from Qua Grant followed by a 3-pointer from Joel Murray. The sophomore continued to pace the offense early on with five straight points as WT lead 23-13 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half.

The lead would grow to 20 points, 37-17, at the six-minute mark after a 9-0 run from JT Warren. The freshman made a 3-pointer on three consecutive trips for the Buffs to beak the game wide open. Murray's third 3-pointer of the first half at 3:34 pushed the lead to 22 points, 46-24.

After allowing a Carter Brown 3-pointer to open the second half, WT went on a 7-0 run bot push the lead back over 20 points, 60-39. Fugett hit a pair of free throws followed by a 3-pointer from Eric Mosley and layup from Grant. Mosley hit his second 3-pointer in as many minutes to push the lead to a game-high 23, 63-40, at 17:36.

Collins came up big for the Buffs midway through the second half with a pair of 3-pointers when it looked like DBU might cut the lead to single digits. Geddis would join the Canyon 3-party later in the half with his first make from beyond the arc followed by a three from Grant to make it 83-62 with eight minutes remaining in the game. Collins would make WT's 19th and final 3-pointer of the game as they improved to 3-0 all-time against DBU.

Murray finished the game with 25 points going 8-of-14 from the floor, 3-of-7 from 3-point range and 6-of-7 from the free throw while tying a career-high with nine assists. Collins had the best game of his career with 18 points making a career-best six 3-pointers. Grant chipped in 18 points and nine rebounds with Geddis and Warren both reaching figures.

The Buffs hit the road for the final time of the 2019-20 regular season beginning on Thursday, Feb. 20, at UT Tyler. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
