LAREDO, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M came up short on Tuesday night in the Lone Star Conference Quarterfinal match as the Buffs fell 1-0 to the third-seed Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas. With the loss to the Dustdevils the Buffs complete the 2019 season with a 8-7-2 overall record while TAMIU moves to 12-6-1 and will go on to face the second-seed Midwestern State on Friday in the LSC Semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Buffs came out with purpose in the Lone Star Conference quarterfinal match as sophomore
Kenny Brown nearly put the Buffs on the board in the sixth minute but his shot was saved by Dustdevil's keeper Josh Jones. With under two minutes remaining in the half
Liam Doyle tried to capitalize on a free kick after the Dustdevils were given a yellow card but his shot was blocked to keep the score level at the half.
TAMIU broke through the Buffs defense going up 1-0 in the 66
th minute on a header from
Ruben Nielsen. The senior midfielder got on the end of Magnus Poulsen's pass to score the game-winner from 10 yards out to find the bottom left corner of the net. The Buffs tallied three more chances to tie the game but each shot went over the top of the post.
WT finished the match with a 17-11 advantage in shots, three of them on target. Brown had a team-high four shots with three on frame while Doyle and
Grayson Ellett totaled three each.
Alexander Vencel posted six saves between the pipes for the Buffs.
