Hot Shooting WT Claims a Share of the LSC Title with a Rout of Tarleton State, 87-60

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The #25 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M scored on their first five possessions of the game and never looked back as they claimed a share of the program's 16th Lone Star Conference Championship with a 87-60 road win at Tarleton State on Saturday afternoon in front of over 900 fans at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- West Texas A&M was led offensively by Lexy Hightower who went 7-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-4 from behind the arc to score a game-high 19 points followed by Madison Parker with 15 and Sydney Walton/Tiana Pakrer with 10 each, Megan Gamble dished out eight assists on the afternoon while Tyesha Parker blocked five shots in the win.
- Katie Webster scored a team-high 15 points for the TexAnns as she went 5-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free throw line followed by McKinley Bostad and Mackenzie Hailey with 10 points each. Bostad grabbed eight rebounds to leads TSU defensively while she and Kylie Collins dished out four assists each in the loss.
 
FIRST HALF:
- The Lady Buffs finished the first half going 19-of-31 (61.3%) from the floor including 7-of-11 (63.6%) from behint the arc and 3-of-4 (75%) from the charity stripe with 27 rebounds (nine offensive, 18 defensive), 14 assists, eight turnovers, five blocks and one steal.
- Tarleton State went 10-of-35 (28.6%) from the field in the first half including 5-of-13 (38.5%) from deep and 2-of-2 from the free throw line with 11 rebounds (seven offensive, four defensive), seven assists, two turnovers, four blocks and one steal.

SECOND HALF:
- WT finished the game going 36-of-63 (57.1%) from the floor including 8-of-16 (50%) from behind the arc and 7-of-15 (46.7%) from the free throw line with 49 rebounds (17 offensive, 32 defensive), 23 assists, 14 turnovers, 12 blocks and two steals. The 12 blocks is tied for third most in a single-game in program history.
- The TexAnns went 19-of-68 (27.9%) from the field including 8-of-25 (32%) from deep and 14-of-16 (87.5%) from the charity stripe with 13 assists, eight turnovers, four blocks and two steals on the afternoon.

The Lady Buffs now head into the Lone Star Conference Championship as the second seed as they will take on the seventh seeded Mustangs of Midwestern State in a Highway 287 Challenge showdown on Thursday afternoon at Dr Pepper Arena in Fricso, Texas with tipoff set for 2:30 p.m.
