SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M used a career afternoon by sophomore
Ryan Quaid as five different Buffs scored double-figures in a 90-81 Lone Star Conference win over the Rams of Angelo State in front of over 1,100 fans at the Junell Center in San Angelo, Texas. The Buffs improve to 22-7 (10-6 LSC) while ASU falls to 14-10 (6-10 LSC) on the season.
The Buffs were led at the break by
Jordan Evans who went 3-of-7 from the floor and 2-of-4 from deep to score 12 points followed by Quaid with 10. WT went 16-of-27 (59.3%) from the floor in the first half including 6-of-10 (60%) from deep and 7-of-9 (77.8%) from the charity stripe with 18 rebounds (six offensive, 12 defensive), nine assists, nine turnovers, one block and no steals.
Angelo State went 12-of-22 (54.5%) from the floor in the first half including 7-of-12 (58.3%) from deep and 8-of-16 (50%) from the free throw line with eight rebounds (one offensive, seven defensive), seven assists, eight turnovers, no blocks and one steal. King and Foster led the Rams with 12 points each in the opening period.
WT went 31-of-57 (54.4%) from the floor including 8-of-20 (40%) from long range and 20-of-28 (71.4%) from the free throw line to go along with 33 rebounds (11 offensive, 22 defensive), 15 assists, 13 turnovers, one block and six steals. Quaid went 11-of-16 from the floor and 2-of-4 from the charity stripe to score a career high 24 points to go along with nine rebounds followed by
David Chavlovich (15),
Eric Golightly Jr. (15), J. Evans (12) and
Drew Evans (10) in double-figures.
The Rams were led offensively by Quay King who went 10-of-16 from the floor and 8-of-13 from behind the arc to lead all players with 31 points followed by Prince Foster with 23. ASU went 25-of-47 (53.2%) from the field including 12-of-23 (52.2%) from deep and 19-of-31 (61.3%) from the free throw line with 24 rebounds (four offensive, 20 defensive), 12 assists, 17 turnovers, one block and three steals.
