Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium

West Texas A&M is home to the premier NCAA Division II College Football facility in the country.

Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium holds 8,5000 fans and can handle up to 12,000 people when utilizing standing room areas and berms beyond the end zones.

Buffalo Stadium opened in 2019 before being receiving its current name in September 2022. The stadium is named after Barbara and Ray Bain and Geneva and Stanley Schaeffer. The field at the stadium was named First United Field in 2023 following a naming rights agreement between the university's athletic department and First United Bank that will last until 2033.

Ray Bain attended WT, then became president of First State Bank of Dimmitt in 1985. In 1987, he joined with Stanley Schaeffer and a small group of investors to purchase the bank, which became known as First United Bank in 1994. Today, the bank has expanded to 17 locations across 13 West Texas cities.

The Bain and Schaeffer names are prominent across WT’s campus, seen on 17 classrooms, labs, buildings and facilities. Among the campus landmarks named for the families are Schaeffer Softball Park, the Bain Athletic Center, the Stanley Schaeffer Agriculture Education Learning Lab, the Bain Events Center and the Piehl-Schaeffer Pavilion.

The playing surface, First United Field, features the latest cushioning technology to help protect players against concussion and other impact injuries. A video scoreboard is built behind the north end zone and a ribbon board system along the front of the east and west decks.

Family Boxes are found on the concourse level on both the east and west sides. A Family Box can be arranged with 4, 6, 10 or 12 chair seats with a table for additional comfort and space.

There are also seven suites, which also feature seating under the cover of the upper deck. Six suites will provide 12 outdoor seats under the cover of the upper seating deck and four additional seats inside the suite. The 50- yard line suite feature 24 outdoor seats and seven indoor seats. All suites will share common gathering space and have access to premium food and beverages.

The Fairly Group Club on the second level of the stadium offers a stunning game day and year-round event space. Overlooking midfield and covering more than 4,000 square feet, it features a 20-foot glass wall to the East and offers spectacular panoramas of the Texas Panhandle.

The Dyke & Terry Rogers Legends Plaza features banners and plaques from West Texas A&M's storied football history. Each championship team is represented by a plaque inside of the plaza that fans are encouraged to visit on GameDay.
