AUSTIN, Texas – Sophomore Nikolina Hrelec continues her assault on the record books as she ran the third-fastest time in school history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday night at the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, presented by Spectrum in Austin, Texas. Madison Thetford, Tobia Lahbi and Jacob Norris also represented WT in the 400-meter hurdles during the second day of competition at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Hrelec now owns two of the top four times in school history after running 11:01.98 in a race where she was one of only three non-Division I runners. She found herself in good position from the start as she went through the first lap in fourth place running the first quarter of mile in 1:29.43. She proceeded to go through 1,600-meters in 6:15.05. She found herself in 10th place heading into the final three laps but a strong push from 800 meters out helped her pass Hannah Campbell of Texas A&M and Hannah Grubb of Texas to finish eighth.
Thetford continued the strong start to her collegiate outdoor career as she ran a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles for the second time in six days. The Amarillo, Texas native finished 47th overall in a time of 1:02.55.
Lahbi finished sixth in his heat and 23rd overall in the 400-meters running a NCAA Championship provisional time of 53.16 out of lane seven. Norris finished 57th in the same event running 55.97.
