State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships (Facebook / Twitter) Ball's Highlight Video #WTDarkHorse CANYON, Texas – Senior
Antjuan Ball of the West Texas A&M men's basketball team is one step closer to showing the country his talents on national television as he has been selected as one of 16 finalists for the Dark Horse Dunker Competition. The winner of the bracket-style voting, decided entirely by fans, will earn the final roster spot in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, to be aired live on ESPN during Final Four weekend in Indianapolis, Ind.
Ball, a 6-3, 205 lb., senior out of Collirene, Ala. has put on a show for anyone who has seen him play in person with his dunking prowess and aerial artistry. But he now has a chance to show the world. For the fifth-consecutive year, the final roster spot in the dunk competition of the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships will be reserved for the country's most electric "Dark Horse Dunker" – an unknown, under-the-radar player with hops and creativity that belongs on the national stage. The event takes place in Indianapolis on Thursday, April 2, and will air LIVE on ESPN.
Ball, along with the 15 other finalists, has been selected by a national committee based upon video highlight submissions. However, the determination of who moves on to the big show in April will be decided by the fans.
Starting next Wednesday, Feb. 11, fans will be able to vote for Ball in his first round matchup on DarkHorseDunker.com (website is not yet live, but will be by Feb. 11). Fans will be prompted to sign in via Twitter, Facebook, Google+ or provide their email address to be able to vote. Each individual user will be able to vote once per day, per platform. The first round of voting will begin at 12 p.m. (CT) on Feb. 11 and end at 12 p.m. (CT) on Feb. 18. At that time, the player who received the most votes in each individual matchup will advance to the next round. This voting structure will carry on over a four-week period until a winner is decided at the end of the final week.
