Women's Golf Captures Lone Star Conference Championship

THACKERVILLE, Okla. – West Texas A&M women's golf secured the program's second Lone Star Conference championship in program history on Wednesday afternoon. The No. 7-ranked Lady Buffs used a late comeback by Alyssa Campbell to defeat No. 2 Dallas Baptist, 3-2 in the Lone Star Conference Medal Match Championship.
 
DBU's pair of wins came from Faith DeLaGarza and Julia Garcia at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, respectively. DeLaGarza defeated Antonella Periotti Omisolo by two strokes. Garcia fired a Championship Match, 68, to defeat Gam Songprasert by 14 strokes. WT secured wins from Anna Nomrowski and Rylie Cook before Campbell's win at the end. Nomrowski took down Brooke McDonough by three strokes while Cook defeated Jordyn Karrh by the same margain. 
 
Going into the 16th hole, Campbell trailed Olivia Mitchell by three strokes. On the 16th hole, the Lady Buffs' senior made her par putt while Mitchell turned in an 8 on the par four, allowing Campbell to take a one-stroke advantage. That hole proved to be the difference in the match as both Campbell and Mitchell went on to par the final two holes.
 
WT prepares for the NCAA Division II West Regionals held May 8-10 at the Golf Club of Dallas.
