WT Athletics Announces Opening of Indoor Training Facility

CANYON, Texas. – West Texas A&M athletics is pleased to announce the completion of an indoor training facility inside the north portion of the Old Student Union Building (Old SUB) on the campus of West Texas A&M. The renovated facility will provide an indoor training environment for the nationally recognized baseball, softball, track & field and golf programs.

"This facility is a great addition for our program," said WT softball head coach Kevin Blaskowski. "We now have a first class facility for our student-athletes to train in when the weather is inclement. We can do everything we need inside. Our program will benefit greatly from the work we will get done in the facility."

The facility, that housed the athletics weight room until the Bain Center was opened in January 2016, will greatly benefit the student-athletes of WT during the winter and spring months. It has been fitted with retractable batting nets and pitcher's mound providing a place for the baseball and softball programs to conduct practice and clinics during inclement weather.

The main beneficiaries of the facility for the track & field programs will be the throwers and jumpers as they will have a space to practice technique and drills when the weather doesn't permit them to practice outside. The men's and women's golf programs will incorporate an indoor putting green, hitting nets and flight scope swing analysis.
