West Texas A&M University Athletics

Burrus lettered for the men's basketball team from 1953-1956.  He ranks sixth all-time in rebounding at 8.1 per game and seventh in career rebounds with 680.  He is tied with his cousin Troy who played on the same team in free throws made in a game with 17 and sixth in career free throws made with 299.
 
He served as a County Extension Agent in Lipscomb County, Texas, until retiring when he took up farming and ranching in Lipscomb County.
