West Texas A&M University Athletics

Phillips played baseball for WT before the program was dropped.  He earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors and was a first team selection at third base.  He hit .409 with 11 home runs and helped lead the team to win 30-plus games in Division I for the Buff.
 
He attended Oklahoma after WT where he led the Big Eight in doubles.  His WT team beat then-No. 2 Tulsa and then-No. 16 New Mexico during his time in Canyon.
 
Phillips played nine years of professional baseball for Winston-Salem (1973), Bristol (1974-1976), Holyoke (1977) and Spokane in 1978 which was the Triple-A level.
