Eddie Meyer

Eddie Meyer, a native of Borger, Texas, was a four-year starter while playing on both sides of the line for the West Texas State football team.

An all-Border Conference selection as a junior and senior, Meyer was elected as tri-captain of the team during his senior season.  He played an key role in WT’s Tangerine Bowl win on versus then-Mississippi Southern in 1957 and was a starting tackle for the Southwest All-Stars in the 1959 Copper Bowl All-Star Game.  

He was drafted in the first round of the 1959 American Football League draft by the New York Titans, but later played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills. 

Meyer was a member of the Dean’s Honor Roll while earning a business degree at WT.
